Nye skjorter

The boys needed new linen shirts for their Viking garb, and hubby needed his at once - the next day. So guess who was stuck sewing until the wee hours, while others were sound asleep... Due to the sleeping there was no fitting, and hubby thought his shirt turned out a bit short, even if I made it according to the ordered measurements, may I add! It had to do that day, but later I added another 15 cm, and it turned out perfect.

This time I hemmed the neckline using cross-stitches, and the join also called out for cross-stitches. I really like the way it turned out, very lucky smart of me to make it too short in the first place ;-)

With this one out of the way I started Helgi's shirt. He wanted a long one with slits in the front and back, and since he'll probably be running around and fight, fence and - worst case scenario - ride, I added some extra width to the sides. I did the cross-stitch hemming here too, and he'll be closing it with a broche at the neck.

Hi Helen, I just discovered your blog lately and I found that the things you do are so lovely...It's rather diffferent from what I'm used to but with some similarities...I'm living in Canada, in Qubec province, very far from your home ...I've put your blog in my favorites, thanks for the english ! Even if french is my native language, english is a big part of my reading on internet !Good luck for all your future textile works, you're on the right way. It's a pleasure for me to discover new ways of living and local crafts.Esther
